In general, Surveying is defined as an art and science of accurately determining the position of points and the distances between them. These points are usually, but not exclusively, associated with positions on the surface of the Earth, and are often used to establish land boundaries for ownership or governmental purposes.
From the above definition, Survey Unit at the Ministry is one responsible for carrying out ground survey works and other related products, it comprises of three sections namely; Hydrographic Survey, Geodetic & Topographic Survey and Cadastral Survey Sections. At the moment, Hydrographic Survey section is not fully operational, it is still under establishment.
The main activities of these sections are as shown below:-
